Writing in Small Spaces: Your One-Page Website

A five-week website writing workshop for Certified Guided Autobiography Instructors

 clear words, your own voice.

Find the words that help people understand your work—

and get a feel for who you are as a facilitator.

❋ Write clear website copy that sounds like you.
❋ Help prospective participants recognize a good fit.
❋ Leave with a complete one-page website copy draft.
❋ Five live Zoom sessions with a maximum of six participants.

When someone visits your website, they’re considering more than dates and prices. They’re wondering what your workshops are like, whether they feel comfortable with your approach, and whether they can imagine themselves participating.

Your words help them decide.

As a GAB instructor, you share a method with other trained facilitators. You also bring your own experience, interests, and way of working.

How do you communicate both the practice and the person facilitating it?

This workshop gives you time, structure, and support to work that out.

Clear words. Your own voice.

Writing about your own work can be surprisingly difficult. You may have plenty to say but struggle to bring it together—or find that everything you write sounds a little too generic.

We’ll begin by clarifying what you want prospective participants to understand: what you offer, what matters in your approach, and what they can expect when they join you.

Using a prompt-based writing template, you’ll turn those ideas into purposeful website sections. You’ll choose what belongs, shape your language, and make it easier for readers to find the information they need.

The aim is an honest, thoughtful introduction to your work that helps people decide whether it’s a good fit for them.

❋

What you’ll be doing:

Throughout the five weeks, you’ll draft and revise:

❋ An opening that introduces your work and gives readers a reason to keep reading.

❋ Headlines that help people find their way through your page.

❋ A concise About section that gives readers a sense of you as their facilitator.

❋ Clear descriptions of your GAB offerings and the practical details participants need.

❋ Invitations to register, ask a question, or take another appropriate next step.

You’ll leave with a complete copy draft for a one-page website, ready to transfer to your chosen platform. If you already have a website, you can use the process to refresh your homepage copy.

How we’ll work together:

❋ Each 90-minute Zoom session combines short lessons, time to write, and opportunities to share drafts and receive specific, positive feedback.

❋ Between sessions, allow approximately 45–60 minutes to continue drafting and revising.

❋ A maximum of six participants keeps the group small enough for everyone to contribute and receive attention.

❋ You may use ChatGPT or another AI tool to support revisions, or work without AI using the same questions and process. Your voice and judgment always guide the writing.

About Me

I came to website copywriting by a long and winding road that didn’t lead quite where I expected.

In 2020, during the COVID lockdowns, I started working on my first website as a way to stay connected with my elementary students and their parents. What began as a necessity became something I really enjoyed.

Since then, I’ve designed, built, and rewritten my own website many times as my business has evolved—and I still find it fun! Through Seachange Creative, my former business, I developed a homepage copywriting course and a prompt-based process to help people find the words for their work. I continue to offer website copywriting coaching to private, one-to-one clients.

As an educator, writer, and certified Guided Autobiography instructor, I bring those threads together in this course. I know how much thought goes into creating an offering you care about, and how challenging it can be to describe it. I enjoy helping people find language that feels like their own and gives readers a clear sense of what they offer.

  • "Working with Susan, you don't need to worry about ever feeling unsafe. "

You could be completely lost and confused and resistant, and she will take the time to re-orient you, and help you move forward with more confidence.
